Vitoria, its cathedral, the Rioja Alavesa and the Salt Valley of Añana

We visit the capital of the Basque Country and part of its province, which has many cultural and gastronomic treasures. From its magnificent Cathedral of Santa María where we will visit from its foundations to its terrace, through the wineries of the Rioja Alavesa, to the Salado de Añana Valley, considered a GIAHS territory (Important System of World Agricultural Heritage).

Not forgetting its famous pintxos (tapas) and its jovial atmosphere.

Day 1 (April 30th.): VITORIA
Arrival of participants. Pintxos (tapas) route. In the afternoon we will visit the Cathedral of Santa María and the area of the "medieval city". We will continue eating pintxos in other places in the city.

Day 2 (May 1st): RIOJA ALAVESA
Breakfast at the hotel. Transfer to the small but beautiful village of Laguardia to visit the original winery of "El Fabulista" which once belonged to Jovellanos. Lunch in the gastronomic space "Villa Lucia". In the afternoon we return to Vitoria to have some free time to continue discovering its pintxos.

Day 3 (May 2nd.): SALT VALLEY OF AÑANA
Breakfast at the hotel. Departure to the Añana Salt Valley (GIAHS territory) to visit this impressive environment and get to know its secrets.
 
The Añana Salt Valley is a cultural and natural salt landscape that is more than 7,000 years old and is currently undergoing a process of recovery to restore its sustainability. Under a recovery approach open to the public, visitors of all ages and groups can enjoy different guided tours and experiences to learn about the history, architecture, archaeology and biodiversity of the salt pans; produce and taste the Añana Salt themselves; and benefit from the therapeutic effects of the salt water. The "Salt Valley" visit is the ideal tour for those who are visiting the salt pans for the first time or who want to get a general idea of the landscape, its importance and the process of recovery and enhancement of its value.


Return to Vitoria to take transport back to the points of origin. END OF THE TRIP AND OUR SERVICES
